Nothing in the world makes me happier than time in the saddle. I have been competing in the hunters, jumpers and equitation for 23 years. I grew up riding in Bucks County, PA and was recruited to ride for the nationally ranked Division 1 Oklahoma State University Equestrian Team. After graduating from Okstate with a Masters of Arts in Philosophy, I was awarded a scholarship to attend Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, GA.
After graduating from Emory I sought opportunities in California working in entertainment law. I began my legal career working in business and legal affairs at Universal Music Group where I learned a great deal about business law, contract negotiating and drafting. As I became more involved in the artist side of the business I started looking for more opportunities outside of the label and found a business management position at a prestigious boutique firm servicing only actors, producers and comedians. As in-house counsel, I worked on everything from estate plans, incorporating LLCs, tax, accounting, insurance and financial advising. I loved the all-inclusive aspect of handling client business and decided to take a leap of faith to channel those skills towards people in the industry I was most involved, the equine industry.
In July of 2018, I opened my own equine law practice. I found that a lot of attorneys claiming to practice equine law were not current in the industry or had very little knowledge of horses. I bring my decades of experience riding, training and showing horses all over the country into the courtroom which more effectively and efficiently addresses my client’s issues. Equine law encompasses everything from horse sales and leases, boarding agreements, insurance, equine litigation, property law, stallion syndication, equine tax issues, incorporation and LLC formation.
When I am not working with clients, I love spending time in the saddle. I am passionate about the animals I work with and feel that you cannot be fully present in your work until your equine family is taken care of. I love bringing up young horses and teaching them how to jump, compete and come into their own. I volunteer training rides for local trainers a few mornings a week in Los Angeles and Ventura county, sharing my passion and growing my network of involvement in the industry.
When I am not riding horses I can be found exploring new terrain on my mountain bike or in the ocean surfing. I am also an avid reader and zealous traveler. There are infinite experiences and things to learn in the world and life would be remiss without experiencing them.
