I love what I do. I help people, their families, and their businesses. My practice is about the positive. I help people build strong foundations and larger structures. Together, we plan for their future and the future of their loved ones.
Proud to Be a United States Marine
I joined the Marine Corps because I wanted to give something back to my country. I didn’t want to just sit behind a desk; I wanted to challenge myself, lead an elite team of warriors, and travel the world. I was active duty from 1995–2001, then reserve from 2001–2010. But during my second deployment to the Middle East (1998–1999), I began looking ahead to the next phase of my life. I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I started researching higher education. Law became my focus because I saw a parallel between litigation strategy and military strategy. It seemed to be the natural extension of my career path at that point in time.
Choosing Business Law and Estate Planning
Fast forward through my legal education and first decade of practice as a commercial litigator to the summer of 2016. As my own family grew and faced challenges, I realized how vital it is for people to be prepared for whatever life throws at them. At the same time, I decided commercial litigation was not the right practice area for me. As a result, I changed my focus to the transactional side of corporate law and added estate planning as a practice area. I am passionate about helping people prepare for every possibility and protect their assets for the next generation.
Family, Free Time, and Personal Growth
When I am not at the office, I spend time with my family (wife and three kids, aged 5-13). We go to amusement parks, cruises, museums, the beach, and everywhere else that introduces children to the world around them.
I coach my oldest daughter’s recreation league lacrosse team in Fort Lauderdale. Learning the women’s game was a rewarding challenge that has given me the opportunity to spend more time with my daughter and her friends.
Aside from spending time with my family, I am an avid physical fitness buff. Personal development is also a big thing for me. If your train the body, but not the mind or spirit, then only one-third of your being is improved. That is why my goal for this year is to again read about 50 books that will inspire me to become a better person, attorney, and leader.
Finally, because there are many Spanish speakers in South Florida, I decided to learn the language. Through the use of several apps and audio programs, I am now proficient enough to carry on a conversation in Spanish. Indeed, in 2015, I traveled to Buenos Aires and had no issues communicating with the locals—and many of them wanted to practice their English on me.
Ft. Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. Being a part of the Chamber shows my commitment to our local business community. I graduated from Leadership Fort Lauderdale Class XXIV. I continue my community and business work in the Chamber as a member of the Government Affairs Committee.
Ft. Lauderdale Landsharks Lacrosse. I coach in this league because of my love of the game and for my daughter. I believe that children’s participation in team sports gives them lessons and experiences for life. The Landsharks are part of the South Florida Youth Lacrosse League.
